Calling Chicagoland Quilty-ers!

Aw, yeah!

Hi, everyone.

We’ve got a Quilty taping coming up at the end of March — that’s next month. If you’re in the Chicagoland area, let me know. I’m looking for several guests for the “This Is My Quilt” feature and a quilter or two to hang out and make a block with me on the show.

The shoot takes place in Chicago (Pilsen neighborhood.) We’re taping on March 28th, 29th, and 30th. Episodes have a magazine component (and vice versa.) We’re interested in beginners, advanced quilters, and quilters in between. Taping a show takes about an hour and you’ll sign a release form. It’s really fun to be on Quilty.

Wanna do it? If you’re available and in town, email me at Mary @ and let’s talk it over.

Happy Saturday,

Mary, What a thrill to be part of your show! combined with a chance to visit with my daughter in Chicago, it sounds like a dream come true! I live in OH and am definitely a middle-aged beginner/almost intermediate if number of projects completed outweighs techniques and complexity.

I am home sick from work today, watching DVD programs. While watching Fons and Porter’s Love of Quilting, I picked up my kindle pulled up the Fons and Porter website and saw your call for quilters. I have a variation of a twister quilt pattern, not a shape design like a tree or pumpkin. It is a easy design that looks hard. It is called twister pinwheel there are several photos and variations on my FB page” It’s Sew Natalie designs”. You can find out more a bout me as well. I am in Centerville,IN, but I have traveled to the Chicago area many times, it’s about 5 hours, so doable, yes!

Hope to hear from you, but if I don’t I will remain a fan.

Sew Happy,
Natalie Wampole

Hi Mary, I am a recently retired teacher and a frustrated quilter. I never seem to complete projects. If I do, I am never completely satisfied with the result. I live in Nappanee , IN near Shipshewanna where I attended a session with Marianne and you. (So cool). I would love to be on Quilty. I am a beginner.

Dear Mary,

This is intriguing to me! I have been a quilter for approximately 30 years and live in the Chicago suburbs – Elk Grove Village. I am just now putting the binding on a quilt made as a wedding gift for my daughter and son-in-law. It is a hexagon quilt which my daughter and I designed from a photo of a blanket or quilt which she found on a blog. I couldn’t find a pattern, so I figured out how to put it together after doing some internet research on techniques and she and I selected the fabrics. The hexagons are a large scale print, bordered by a narrow strip to frame each hexagon. The hexagons are then set together with linen between – like tiles with grout. I am planning to come to see your presentation in Shipshewana this June – I enjoy your personality and humor.

I’d love to be a participant in “Quilty.” I’m a recently retired kgn teacher and now have the time and inclination to get quilting again. I’ve been a beginner for over 30 years! My quilting consists of small projects like wall hangings.

Mary, How exciting that would be to hang out with you! I am from the Marshall, IL/Terre Haute, IN area (which is not that far from Chicago). I am an instructor in the Textiles Apparel Merchandising program at Indiana State University. I have been quilting for several years now which gives me a break from wearable art or I incorporate my quilts into my wearable art! Look forward to hearing from you.

I would love to come to your show, I have just started quilting and with such a cold winter in Chicago it kept me busy! Love your show with it’s tips. Can’t wait to hear from you, my son is having triplets so I have 3 quilts waiting!

Congratulations Mary on what you are doing for the industry. I love seeing how you are using the technology today to communicate and inspire our younger quilters, well done!! I’m in Naperville, have been machine quilting for 15 yrs, and would love to help out!
