QUILTY GRAB-BAG GIVEAWAY!

Soo…

When we wrap a Quilty shoot — like we did last Tuesday — there’s lots of cleanup to do. We have demo materials that need to be put someplace, supplies that need to be restocked, etc. There’s a lot of stuff that actually kind of doesn’t have a home anymore because…well, we’re done with it.

“We should give it away,” said Rebecca Fons, my kid sister and producer of Quilty.

“You are so right,” I said. “What should the giveaway be?”

“I think,” said Rebecca, “That it would be cool to see what people have been inspired to make because of something they saw on the show or in the magazine.”

“Brilliant!” I said. Then I ate some toast.

So that’s what we’re going to do! We have not one, not two, not three or four but FIVE boxes of Quilty goodies to give away! If you were inspired to start your own “Pink Waves” quilt because you saw it in Quilty magazine, post a picture of what you’ve done on Facebook. Were you inspired to make a “Pie N’ Crust” baby quilt because you learned about curved seams on Quilty the show? Show us! Post a picture! The first five people to post a pic of something they made or are in the process of making because of Quilty, will get one of these boxes. Cool, right??

These boxes are full of good stuff. Full of things like:

+ demo materials (also known as “step-outs” which are sample blocks, pieces and parts of blocks, cut pieces, etc. for showing how-to’s on the show — you could totally use them to start a whole new quilt.)

+ notions (scissors, marking tools, etc.)

+ patterns

+ extra fabric

+ miscellaneous STUFF (all sewing related, of course)

I personally separated the goods into five equal-as-I-could estimate boxes and they are ready to ship. Each box is different, not every box has all the stuff I mentioned above, but definitely some of it and, as I said, they’re all equal, value-wise. I can’t really put a price value on them because…well, I just don’t want think that hard, but they’re worth a few shekels, trust me.

Fun, right??

So do it! Rebecca will monitor the FB page and make sure the first five peeps to do this get their box. And keep watching the blog and the page because there may be more boxes on the way… We need to do a little more spring cleaning! And hey, if you miss the boxes this time, or if you’ve already shown us stuff you’ve been inspired to make, don’t be sore at all — you’re absolutely as special as anyone who gets a goodie bag this time around and we always, always love to see that you’re using Quilty in your life.

xo,

Mar

Ha! Susan, I love it. For this giveaway, we’re looking for cold, hard evidence — but this put a smile on our face! Do ideas count as UFO’s? :)

Mary! My quilting trouble is this….My mother in law promised to stitch me a quilt and asked me to choose fabrics, so I PurcHased four fabrics only to discover she really had planned to sew two bed sheets together! So I sheepishly put the fabric away. During the year of our 25th wedding anniversary I took out the fabric, took Class to learn the Bourgoynes surrounded quilt! I am nearly finished and weird or not I won’t let myself start another qult til this one is done! (this hasn’t stopped my stashing of fabric and patterns and quilt mags) if I were to receive a box it would give me incentive to finish my quilt because of course I wouldn’t open it til I was finished quilt top!

I saw an episode you did regarding modern quilts. I am new to quilting and I really like the look of the modern quilts but really had no idea how I wanted to approach it. I am one of those that chews and chews on an idea before actually putting it into the works. After watching the episode, I am now pretty sure of the direction I want to go. Thanks! I may have been stuck a LOOOOOONG time if it had not been for watching that episode!

I haven’t made anything off of quilty yet. That is my next project, is to find one of the patterns & make it off of Quilty. I try to do just one project at a time, so that I don’t get overwhelmed. I still learning to do a bunch.

42 Linda Pulver { 06.15.12 at 4:01 pm }

I saw your giveaway box. Is it possible to put in a request for our church’s Comfort Quilters Group or a shop in town that does Quilt For Kids sewing days. If I were extremely greedy, I would ask for one for myself and possibly share it with my sister and brother in law (he is also a quilter). I am only a beginner.

43 mfons { 06.15.12 at 4:22 pm }

Hey, Linda! The giveaway is all done, but keep checking the blog — we’ll definitely do more. I suspect it will be a “first come, first served” kind of thing because answering specific requests might be seen as unfair to others. But we think it’s awesome you’re beginning to quilt and awesome that you have such a generous spirit. Thank you!!

44 harriet { 06.15.12 at 6:30 pm }

I am not good on the computer such as facebook I can do minor things. I am truly interested in receiving a box I watch and record all your programs and also receive your magazine. 45 Sharie Blalock { 06.15.12 at 8:57 pm }

Hi , could you tell us who won the contest ? I haven’t seen the pictures or names anywhere.
thanks,

46 Nancy Faulk { 06.20.12 at 11:48 pm }

I enjoy all of your programs. Your tips have been an inspiration many times over. Keep up the good work, now that I’m retired, I hope to be able to do more quilting and, Mary, you are as cute as a button.

47 Bertha M. Diaz { 06.21.12 at 8:56 pm }

Well, your show has really inspired me to try to quilt. After the scappy quilt you did I really think that I can do it. I’ve never tried to sew a quilt before, so wish me luck!

I have been watching quilts shows and took Joanne’s quilting 101 last night. I am so excited, I want to quilt, quilt, quilt. I have you and Fons and Porter on my DVR. Winning something about quilts is great for any of us out here in quilt land.
